Editorial Policy

Last updated: December 2025

Our Mission

Wild Bluegrass exists to tell honest, human stories about Kentucky—its culture, food, travel, traditions, and people. We aim to go beyond clichés and marketing gloss to reflect the real Commonwealth, told with curiosity, respect, and care.

Editorial Independence

All editorial decisions at Wild Bluegrass are made independently. Content is guided by storytelling value, cultural relevance, and reader interest—not by advertisers, sponsors, destinations, or outside organizations.

While I may work professionally in tourism, editorial judgment remains separate from any marketing or promotional obligations.

Coverage & Scope

We like to talk about:

  • Kentucky culture and heritage
  • Foodways, agriculture, and regional cuisine
  • Travel experiences and place-based storytelling
  • Arts, crafts, and creative communities
  • People whose work reflects Kentucky’s character and values

We do not aim to be exhaustive or promotional. Inclusion is not an endorsement, and omission is not a judgment.

Voice & Standards

Our voice is:

  • Thoughtful and conversational
  • Curious rather than authoritative
  • Grounded in lived experience
  • Respectful of communities and traditions

We value accuracy, clarity, and fairness. Facts are checked to the best of our ability, sources are credited when appropriate, and errors are corrected promptly.

Ethics & Transparency

Conflicts of Interest

The publisher works in destination marketing and public relations. Any content that intersects with professional responsibilities, partnerships, or financial relationships will be disclosed clearly within the article.

Wild Bluegrass does not accept paid editorial placements disguised as storytelling.

If sponsored content is published, it will be clearly labeled as such. Sponsored content does not influence the editorial direction of non-sponsored stories.

Press Trips & Complimentary Experiences

When travel, meals, or experiences are provided complimentary, this will be disclosed. Complimentary access does not guarantee coverage or dictate editorial tone.

Corrections & Updates

If we make a factual error, we will correct it transparently. Significant updates or corrections will be noted at the bottom of the article.

Readers are encouraged to contact us if they believe something is inaccurate or misleading.

Community Standards

We believe storytelling should be generous, not exploitative. We avoid sensationalism, stereotypes, and harm-driven narratives—especially when covering rural communities, marginalized voices, or cultural traditions.
